The project brief: A gamified movement challenge
Run for Nature was part of Accenture’s global Season of Change program – a seven-week charity initiative aimed at raising awareness and funds for nature preservation. The goal was to engage employees in the Nordic countries (Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark as well as added Latvia & Lithuania) through a running and walking challenge, where every completed kilometer contributed to donations.
The challenge was made online on a webpage with integration to the fitness app Strava, making participation supereasy to join. The participants was divided by countries and the gamification part made it a very fun challenge between the countries and added some friendly competition over the boarders. The initiative also encouraged people through weekly challenges such as Plogging, Walk to work, take a walk/run with a co-worker etc which kept engagement high all through the competition.

My Contribution
As the UX/UI designer, I was responsible for designing an engaging digital experience that would motivate participants across different countries and cultures. My work included:
- Creating concept sketches and wireframes for weekly challenges.
- Designing a reward system with gamification including badges to encourage ongoing participation.
- Conducting usability testing to validate ideas and ensure accessibility.
- Collaborating closely with developers and season of change mangement to refine and implement the final design.
- Experimenting with Generative AI tools to accelerate the design process and spark creativity.

Part of all the images posted on Strava and automatically added to the project page.
Outcome
The initiative was a great success:
- Over 500 participants from 7 countries joined the challenge.
- More than €30,000 was raised for charity.
- The engagement and networking between countries and offices was great fun seeing all the images shared online by the participants.
The project not only delivered measurable impact but also showcased how thoughtful design can inspire a lot of engagement and positive change.
A summary of the project in video was created.
